Haynes Happenings.
Mrs. Catheran Downie, aged 65 years Dec. 9th, 1895, died in Detroit Feb. 12th of paralysis. She survived her husband 13 years. Her remains were brought to the home of her son, Ed. Downie, in this township, Friday evening, accompanied by four of her daughters and her son, William. The remains were interred Sunday afternoon. The Rev. McBride preached the funeral sermon to a large congregation of relatives and friends. She leaves seven daughters and three sons to mourn their loss. Two daughters live in Detroit, two in Chicago, two in Rochester N. Y., and one in Hamilton, Ont. Her son William is on the police force in Detroit. Her son Richard lives in Saginaw and drives delivery. Edward resides in Haynes, has a good farm, steam thresher and portable saw mill. The floral offerings were numerous; one from the ladies of the Womans Meeting, one from a Mrs. Edgar of Detroit and others. She was a member of the Methodist church and the Women's Relief Association of Detroit.
