A SAD COINCIDENCE.

Two Sisters Die on Succeeding Days and
Are Buried in One Grave

Haynes, November 12, 1895.
Mrs. Lyman Morton, nee Sarah Clark, passed away quietly on the morning of the 7th at the home of her parents. Her sickness commenced about three months ago, when she gave premature birth to a child, after which she fell into a decline or quick consumption. She was aged 21 years.
Her sister, Miss Maggie Clark, took her departure on the evening of the 8th, at 9 o’clock p.m., aged 19 years, after a lingering illness of three years from that dread disease, consumption.
The mortal remains of both sisters were conveyed to the Presbyterian church about noon Sunday, when the Rev. H. A. Long preached a very effective funeral sermon. The remains were then borne to the cemetery, followed by a large concourse of relatives and sympathizing friends. Both were interred in one grave side by side.

Memory will their vigils keep,
Gathered ‘round their narrow coffins,
Stand a mourning funeral train;
While for them redeemed too early,
Tears are falling down like rain.
Hopes are crushed and hearts are bleeding,
Drear the fireside now and lone;
They, the best loved and dearest,
Far away to Heaven hath flown.
Long, long will we miss thee, Sarah,
Long watch for Maggie keep;
And through many nights of sorrow,
Memory will thy vigils keep.

The bereft parents and husband of the departed have the sympathy of the whole community in their great sorrow in the loss of their beloved ones.
Quite a number of the deceased’s friends and relatives from Black River and West Harrisville were present at the funeral.
