TWO AGED RESIDENTS ARE TAKEN BY DEATH.
Mrs. Mary Hastings, Haynes, and Joseph Sovey, Harrisville Pass Away.
Mrs. Mary Hastings of Haynes, a resident of the county since 1867, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D. McArthur, in that Township, last Saturday.
Mrs. Hastings was born in Ireland on April 21, 1835, and came to Alcona County 54 years ago, making her home here since that time.
The funeral was held in the Presbyterian Church in Haynes Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Boyce officiating, and the remains interred in Mt. Joy cemetery.
A brother, Wilson Armstrong of Tawas City; four sons, Joseph of Knife River, Minn.; Robert of Harrisville; George, of the Canadian Northwest; and three daughters, Mrs. D. McArthur, of Haynes; Mrs. Jos. Miller, of Harrisville; and Mrs. M. Amesbury of Knife River, Minn., survive her.
