Mrs. Harry Elmer, Mrs. Harriet McArthur, Pioneers, Pass Away
Mrs. Mary Elmer, aged 87, died at the home of her son Rufus, in Harrisville Township, Friday, of maladies due to age, after an illness of several years.
Mrs. Elmer was born in Detroit, February 1, 1838, and came to this county in 1860, and had resided in Harrisville Township since that time. Until eight years ago she resided on the farm on which the family settled in 1860 and the farm is still in possession of the family. Eight years ago she came to live at the home of her son. She had been in feeble health for several years, and for the past two years had been bedridden.
Five sons, Rufus of Harrisville, Walter of Grand Rapids, Lester of Port Huron, Wesley of Hoquiam, Wash., and Milo of Grand Rapids, Minn., and two daughters, Mrs. Wm. Hogue of Harrisville and Mrs. Thos. Cuyler of New Orleans, La., survive.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Hawley in the Harrisville M. E. Church, Tuesday, and the remains interred in the Springport Cemetery.
