LOCAL JOTTINGS.

During the past two weeks, cholera-infantum has been having a terrible rage in this community, no less than a dozen small children and babes having died from the same.--This naturally leaves many houses of mourning in our community, and to those of us who are as yet free from the scourge in our own homes, should come forth hearty sympathy and fitting words for the bereaved. Friday last, the scourge took away a little, human flower each from the homes of William Nestle and James Stringer. Tuesday the family of Chas. Larson were bereft of their babe, and Wednesday evening Frank Stevens and wife were called to part with their first-born. Gilbert Landon, one of the Messrs. Byces, and the Ducharms have also each lost a babe, and there are several others in the community apparently nearly at death's door, at the time we go to press. Thus many of the homes in our community are being darkened. May the Lord remove the dark cloud speedily, and give consolation to the sorrowing parents.
