TO DRAG FOR THE SHAW.
The Bottom of the Lake to by Systematically Searched.
In another article the Sturgeon Point crew is quoted as holding the opinion that the only way to recover the lost Shaw is for two tugs to drag the lake with a long line.
This method is now to be employed: Murphy's Detroit wrecking tug, the Henry W. Johnson, arrived in port Tuesday and tied up at the Union Dock to await the arrival of the Kate Williams or some other wrecker to assist in the search for the Shaw.
The tugs will stretch a line some three-fourths of a mile in length. This will be weighted down so as to drag the bottom of the lake and then the boats will make a systematic cruise over an extended area until they find the Shaw or determine that she is not in these waters.
Very conflicting tales are told by those who were in the best position to know where the Shaw went down and as she is reported to have carried an insurance in excess of her value, there is ground for suspicion that her complete disappearance was not altogether an accident.
The Johnson carries two divers, who will have plenty to do if the wreck is located. She has all the other paraphernalia comprised in a wrecking outfit and comes fully equipped for a long job.
