Death of Margaret E. Gorsuch on 4/7/1900 in Alpena; burial on 4/9/1900 in Pleasant View, Spruce.
A Sad Affair.
Two Daughters Come Unexpectedly on the Remains of Their Mother.
Mrs. Nathan Gorsuch of Spruce, Alcona county, died at the hospital at an early hour this morning. The remains will be sent to Spruce for burial.
Mrs. Gorsuch was received at the hospital last Monday. She was suffering with cancer of the stomach, and her condition was such that death was expected at almost any hour. She was accompanied by her husband and two sons.
Yesterday the two daughters were sent for, and arrived on the morning train. They reached the hospital just as the casket, containing the remains were carried out. It was the first knowledge they had received of their mother's death and their grief was pitiful. One of the daughters became hysterical, and for a time some apprehension was felt for her recovery.--Alpena News, Apr. 7.
She leaves a husband and six children.
The funeral was held Monday morning at 10 o'clock from the Presbyterian church of Spruce and was largely attended. Rev. Birdsell conducted the services.
