Death of Mary Gray on 12/16/1888 in West Harrisville.
Mrs. John Gray the Victim of Apoplexy.
Mrs. Gray, the estimable wife of our worthy farmer citizen, John Gray, of Harrisville township, was stricken down by an apoplectic stroke while visiting the family of Frank Smith, of West Harrisville, last Sunday evening, dying immediately. Mrs. Gray went to W. Harrisville Sunday afternoon, intending to remain with Mr. Smith's family over night and take the train Monday morning for Au Sable to visit a sick daughter. Mrs. Gray, who was a very large woman, appeared to be in excellent spirits and the best of health. At the conclusion of the evening meal she started to walk into the sitting room, chatting gaily with members of the family. Suddenly, and without a moment's warning, she fell to the floor, gasped once and was dead.
Mrs. Gray was about 50 years of age. She leaves a husband and two children, a son and daughter by a former marriage. Her remains were taken to Au Sable Tuesday for burial.
