Leona Clark Succumbs in Detroit Hospital

Our community was saddened Friday to learn that Leona Clark had passed away late Thursday evening at the Detroit Tuberculosis Sanitarium. Her illness had extended over a period of seven years, many months of which were spent in the Sanitorium at Northville, Michigan.
Rena Leona Clark was born in Haynes Township on May 21, 1909, the daughter of Henry Clark and the late Margaret McArthur Clark. She attended local schools and graduated from the Harrisville High School in May 1927. Later she became employed as an operator for the Michigan Bell Telephone Company in Detroit, and held this position until illness prevented.
Surviving her are her father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clark of Imlay City, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Owen Webb of Haynes and Mrs. Fred Murray of Melvin, Michigan; two brothers, Victor Clark of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Lavern Clark of Detroit; one half-sister, Mrs. Evelyn Reinhard of Detroit; and two half-brothers, Earl Clark of the U. S. Army, stationed in Texas and Charles Clark, of Harrisville.
The body was brought to Harrisville by train Sunday morning from the Verheyden Funeral Home in Detroit, to the home of Mrs. Catherine Ritchie, a close friend. Short services were held at the home Monday afternoon at two o'clock, followed by services at the Presbyterian Church. Rev. C. S. Brown officiated. Burial in the family plot in Mt. Joy Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Ralph Shaw, Clarence MacGregor, Jack Winters, Charles Cook, Roy O. Elliott, and Milton Somers.
