George Wm. Beever arrested for robbing Dr. Herring.
Gone to Jail.
Last week George Wm. Beever--or, "Brit," as he is more familiarly known--was arrested upon the charge of robbing Dr. Herring, while the latter was in a high state of intoxication. His examination came off before Justice C. P. Reynolds last Friday, and that official, finding that there was sufficient evidence in the cause, bound "Brit" over to the Circuit Court for trial. He was urged to give bonds in the sum of $200 for appearance for trial, but failing to procure the same, on Monday he was taken to the Iosco county jail to await the sitting of the Circuit Court in May next.
It is to be regretted that the young man should have cut up such a caper, and brought sorrow upon his aged parents and sisters, all of whom are highly respected and bear irreproachable character in the community. They should have the sympathy of many warm friends in this their hour of severe trial.
