Comments on the L. S. S. by some of the crew members of the Monterey.
Editor Alcona Co. Review:
In answer to a long article which I noticed not long since in your paper, I deem it only just and right to say that everything was done for the crew of the schooner Monterey, by the proper officer of the Government (namely the Life Saving Station Keeper), that could have been done under the circumstances. Strenuous efforts were made to reach us the morning after we stranded, but it was impossible for a boat to weather such a sea. I trust this statement will convince the public in your vicinity, in spite of what the opposing parties may say, that said L. S. S. K. attended to every duty promptly and faithfully.
