R. A. Alger & Co. have secured more pine land in the county.
Big Land Sale.--The extensive timber firm of R. A. Alger & Co. have just closed a bargain for the purchase of the Darrah tracts of pine land in this county. The lands purchased outright by the firm comprise 2,700 acres, and the cash price paid therefore was $40,129. The various tracts are situated in Towns 26-8; 25-9; 27-8, and 27-9, and embrace some of the finest pine to be found in the State. The same firm have also purchased a 3-twentieths interest in 2,280 acres more of pine lands in the county, of which Bewick, Comstock and Co., of Alpena, are the other interest owners.
These lands are principally situated, we believe, in northern parts Towns 27-7 and 27-8. The purchase of these new tracts of land will add greatly to the firm's long timber business in this county.
