PERSONAL MENTION.

Joseph Fisher, Sr., is dead. The old gentleman passed away at St. Maries, Idaho, Wednesday, Sept. 4, of malignant inflammation of the urinary organs. Deceased was about 70 years of age. He was one of the pioneer settlers of Alcona county, cleared up one of the best farms in the county, which is now owned by Jas. Anderson, raised a large family, sold out his farm for a song a few years ago and followed his boys west. He was a good citizen although somewhat eccentric, and in the early days he participated in the public events which constitute the county's history. He was one of those who in 1859 petitioned the county of Alpena, to which Alcona was then attached, for the organization of a separate township and the township of Harrisville, comprising nearly the whole of the present county of Alcona, was organized in answer to the petition.
