Death of Hattie May [Miller] Johnson on 1/6/1908 in Harrisville.
Mrs. HERBERT JOHNSON.
Mrs. Herbert Johnson, daughter of Thos. Miller of Haynes, died at 6:10 o'clock Monday evening, at the home of her brother, James Miller in Harrisville.
Mrs. Johnson had been ailing for two years or more, and recently her trouble reached the acute stage. As a last effort to save her life, an operation for the removal of an abscess was decided upon. On Friday last Dr. W. A. Secrist, of Alpena, assisted by Drs. Mitchell and Tiffany, performed the operation, which was successful, but the patient's vitality was too low to withstand the shock, which with other complications proved fatal.
Hattie Miller was born and raised in Haynes township, and would have been 24 years old next May. She was married to Herbert Johnson on June 30, 1904. The deceased was of a kind and gentle disposition, and leaves many friends who sympathize with the family in their bereavement. Besides the husband and parents, deceased is survived by one brother, James Miller, of Harrisville, and a sister, Miss Myrtle Miller of Haynes.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from Haynes Presbyterian church, being conducted by Rev. C. M. Boyce. The burial took place in Mt. Joy Cemetery
