A Fatal Kick.
Bert Downer, the 20 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Downer died at the residence of his parents in Greenbush Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Death resulted from injuries received by a kick from a horse. The young man was engaged in skidding logs below Greenbush about three weeks ago, when one of the horses kicked him in the abdomen. He has been under treatment of Dr. Wiley and also of Dr. Wier of Oscoda, but their united efforts were unavailing to save his life. The most serious injury resulting from the kick and the one which caused death was what is known to physicians as intussusception or telescoping of the large bowel.
Deceased was 20 years of age, and was a bright and promising young man. In his death the parents lost one who would have proved a comfort and a main stay in their declining years. He was born and reared in Alcona County and was well liked by those who knew him. The funeral will be held from Greenbush school house at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
Deceased had been a member of the Mikado Tent of Maccabees but had dropped out of the order a short time before his death.
