Life Savers Won't Object to This.
A bill is to be introduced in the next congress to put the life-saving service on the same footing as the army in important respects. The bill provides for an increase in the pay of the life-savers, for their retirement on half-pay after a specified period of service or disability incurred in the service and for a pension to the families of those who lose their lives in the discharge of their duty. Such a bill should be passed without delay as a measure of justice to a body of brave men, who return in lives and property many times the cost of their wages to the government.--Springfield Republican.
