A "shadow social" was held at the home of Capt. Henderson.
Sturgeon Point.
The "shadow" social Tuesday evening was a gratifying success and netted about $6 for the Sunday school funds. A large number from Harrisville and the country helped to swell the crowd. The station house and Capt. Henderson's residence adjoining were thrown open for the occasion and made a capital place for such an event. The "boys" and their ladies outdid themselves in hospitality and as usual the visitors were royally entertained. A short program opened with remarks by W. A. Alleyn who spoke of the progress and bright prospects of the Sunday school. A duet by Mrs. Henderson and Mr. Hugell, entitled "My Sweetheart Went Down With the Maine," was a pleasant surprise for few knew before that Mr. H. possessed such a fine tenor. A solo by Mrs. Henderson, a song by the choir and a recitation by Miss Joslyn completed a pleasing program.
The buying and selling of the "shadows" caused no end of merriment and resulted in a general mix up of partners for supper.
