Death of an infant child of Abram and Elizabeth [Rivard] McClatchey. The child died soon after birth, as did the mother, and they were buried together.
The Last Sad Rites.
The remains of the late Mrs. Abram McClatchey were laid at rest last Friday morning in the cemetery west of town. The services were held at the M. E. Church. The pastor, Rev. W. Will preached a very impressive sermon, taking as his text Job 10:20-22, prefacing his remarks with the statement that whatever he might say was not intended to apply in any way to the dead but was intended as counsel for the living. The remains were encased in a beautiful casket, and lying on the mother's breast was the babe for which she sacrificed her life. The two hives of lady Maccabees attended in a body, accompanying the remains on foot from the residence to the church; from there they were conveyed by carriages to the cemetery where the Maccabee burial service was performed. There was a very large turnout of citizens.
