A barge runs into trouble off the Point.
Thursday evening a crew of five men and one woman landed at or near Fisher's Point and made their way to the life station at Sturgeon Point where they related a very narrow escape from a watery grave. They were from the barge City of the Straits, which had broken from the tow during the heavy storm of Wednesday and Thursday and had been broken to pieces by the wind and sea compelling the crew to take refuge in the yawl boat, twenty miles out from shore. They had been all day Thursday battling with the terrible off-land gale and heavy sea, and were about used up when they reached land. This morning they were brought to Harrisville by the station crew, from where the captain of the barge telegraphed to the owners in Detroit of their condition.
