It is thought that some unknown vessel burned on Lake Huron last night. A bright light was observed by Thunder Bay Island life savers far out in the lake, and they started to render assistance. They rowed 30 miles and then found that the life saving crew from Sturgeon Point had gone to the scene. The Thunder Bay crew returned here this morning. They got no trace as to what the boat might be.
The above dispatch was sent to Detroit from Alpena Monday night. Inquiry of the Sturgeon Point crew elicits the information that they did not go out to the vessel as stated. The patrol reported the light about 2 o'clock in the morning.
What vessel, if any, was in distress is not known, daily papers have not yet reported any loss.
