The death of Mr. David Gauthier occurred at the home of his son, Solie J. Gauthier, on December 8 after a lingering illness from cancer. He leaves to mourn their loss six sons, Dolph, Tellis, Solie, Eugene, and Arthur of Black River, and Paul of Flint; two daughters, Mrs. Angeline Le Clair and Mrs. Anna Lavigne of Black River. There are also thirty-eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers and a sister living in Canada.
The deceased was born in Ontario, Canada, 71 years ago. Thirty-five years ago he came to Au Sable and four years later came to Black River. Funeral services were held in St. Gabriel's church at Black River, Monday, with Rev. Fr. Ryan officiating. Interment was in the Black River cemetery. His six sons acted as pall bearers.
