John McGregor, aged 42, of Caledonia Township, died Friday last, after an illness of fourteen years' duration, the last eight of which he had been absolutely helpless.
Fourteen years ago Mr. McGregor began his suffering from double curvature of the spine, and despite the efforts of doctors, grew worse, until eight years ago he became bedridden and absolutely helpless, continuing in that condition until his death. A short time ago he contracted a severe cold which resulted in bronchial disorder, and being weakened to such an extent that he was unable to combat this malady, he passed away on Friday at the home of his mother.
Deceased was born in Ontario, and had been a resident of Caledonia for about 25 years.
To mourn are left the mother, one sister, Mrs. Wm. Kennedy of Detroit, and six brothers, Duncan of Lincoln, Robert, at home, Dan and Alex. of Spruce, and Archie and Lauchie now serving overseas with the Canadian forces.
The funeral was held Sunday from the Spruce Presbyterian church, the remains being interred in the Caledonia cemetery.
