David Kirkendall Dead.
--------
David Kirkendall of Greenbush, departed this life Thursday evening, Sept. 17, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. W. Field. Death came at the end of a general decline, due to advanced age. He was confined to his bed about two weeks.
Mr. Kirkendall had been a citizen of Greenbush since 1877, coming there from AuSable. He had always been identified with the town's welfare and until the past two years held one of the important offices of the township. He was supervisor in the early days, clerk for many years, and later supervisor until his declining health compelled him to resign. He was esteemed by all who knew him and looked upon as one of our best citizens.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Methodist church at Greenbush, Rev. Geo. E. Sloan officiating.
Notwithstanding the oppressive heat and smoke and dust which prevailed, there was a large attendance to pay a last tribute to the departed friend, neighbor and brother.
The remains were laid beside those of his late wife, which were interred at South Harrisville just four months previously. The burial was in charge of Alcona Lodge 292 F. & A. M., of which deceased was an enthusiastic member.
The surviving children are Mrs. F. B. Field of Greenbush, Jas. S. Kirkendall of Presque Isle, Fred W. of Bomansville, Ont., and Mrs. F. B. Ward of Tonawanda, N. Y. All were present at the funeral excepting Mrs. Ward.
