ADRIFT IN A BOAT

Four Black River Children Lost--Life-Savers Drag the Lake in Vain.

Black River, July 12--Four boys were carried out to the lake in an old boat and lost. They are the three small sons of Joseph Marquis--Alfred, George and Jean, aged 9, 7 and 5 years, and little Willie LaLonde, 7-year-old son of John LaLonde.
The children were playing along the river and were last seen in the middle of the fore noon. At noon they were missed and a search discovered an old boat gone from near the mouth of the river. It is supposed the children were playing in the boat and that the strong off land wind carried them out.
The life savers of Sturgeon Point spent Tuesday afternoon and part of the night in a vain search for the missing children. It is feared that the boat, which was a small leaky craft, capsized and that the children are drowned.
The life savers spent Wednesday dragging the lake and searching the shore but no discoveries were made. There is a possibility, a small one, that the children may have been picked up by a passing boat.
