DeWitt Wilson Loses Barn and Crops
Hiram Galloway's Barn Also Destroyed

Lightning struck the large barn on DeWitt Wilson's farm in the Dean district at 6:30 Wednesday morning and the building and contents were destroyed. The building contained about 50 tons of hay and 20 acres of peas. The loss is estimated at between $2500 and $3000, with about $1600 insurance in the Grange.
The blaze was first discovered from Henry Stinchcombe's home about twenty rods away and before the men could cross the road the doomed barn burst into flames in many places. Stinchcomb's barn was directly in line with the wind from the burning building but the heavy fall of rain prevented a second fire.

During the same storm that got the Wilson barn Hiram Galloway's barn located in the Spencer district was struck. The building, containing practically the whole of this season's crop except the beans, was burned to the ground. A drill and fanning mill were also destroyed. No insurance.

A small barn on Mrs. Mulholland's farm in Haynes was struck by lightning Wednesday morning and burned down. With the barn was destroyed the season's yield of hay and fall wheat. No insurance.

After a recent thunder storm Thos. C. Anderson Sr. found six of his sheep dead at the foot of a pine tree. It is thought that lightning killed them.
