DEATH COMES TO FIVE
-----
MURDOCH McRAE.
Murdock McRae passed away Sunday morning at his home in Harrisville, terminating a period of more than three years of patient suffering from empyema.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from the M. E. church and was largely attended by people from far and near. Rev. F. Andrews assisted by Rev. C. M. Boyce conducted the service, the interment being at the west cemetery.
Murdoch McRae was born on the Island of Lewis, Scotland, on December 25, 1852. He came to America with his parents at the age of four and spent his early manhood in eastern Canada. On March 25, 1876, he was united in marriage with Mary C. Smith and in June 1880 they came to Alcona county. They settled on land in the western part of the township and made one of the best farms in Alcona county, but owing to Mr. McRae's failing health the farm was sold about two years ago and they moved to town. Besides the widow he leaves three sons, Angus and Dan of Harrisville and John of Chicago; and two daughters, Mrs. J. M. McDonald of Greenbush and Margaret of Harrisville. The eldest son, Kenneth, died eleven years ago. There are two sisters and a brother living in Canada.
Mr. McRae was a good citizen in all that the term implies and was held in respect by all who knew him.
