THERMOMETER RECORD
OF A HOT MONTH
--------
July kept up its high temperature right to the last--though Monday did bring a cool wave which gave relief from the intense heat.
Sunday was a scorcher right. With the mercury registered at 104 and a sultry breeze from the southward, suffering humanity gasped and sweltered around in extreme discomfort. A light shower in the afternoon brought temporary relief but it was not until evening that any real relief came with a cool west breeze.
Following is the record for July taken from the government thermometer on the lake shore at Mitchell's:
1st--72, 2d--91, 3rd--79, 4th--81, 5th--89, 6th--93, 7th--100, 8th--78, 9th--67, 10th--74, 11h--82, 12th--96,13th--79, 14th--72, 15th--79, 16th--82, 17th--78, 18th--79, 19th--84, 20th--82, 21st--94, 22d--93, 23rd--79, 24th--102, 25th--82, 26th--86, 27th--99, 28th--85, 29th--94, 30th--104, 31st--89.
