Death of Sadie F. [Stinchcombe] Wilson.
MRS. DEWITT WILSON DIES
SATURDAY AT FLINT
--------
Members of the family and the friends were shocked Saturday when the news came from Flint, that Mrs. Dewitt Wilson was dead in that city.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilson lived with Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Wilson, the latter being their daughter. She had been ill a few days and was supposed to be improving when she took a turn for the worse and died suddenly early Saturday morning.
Mrs. Wilson's maiden name was Sadie F. Stinchcombe and she was born October 26, 1853, in Vienna township, Genesee county. On Sept. 28, 1874, at Essexville, she married Dewitt Wilson and came to Harrisville, where Mr. Wilson worked for the late Joseph VanBuskirk. Later they moved to Otsego Lake and conducted a general store. Thirty years ago they returned to Harrisville and engaged in farming at what is now known as Wilson's corners. They made one of the best farms in the county and until Mr. Wilson's health failed several years ago, resided continuously at their farm. For a number of years they made their home in Flint leaving the management of the farm to their son Charles.
The remains were brought here Monday morning and taken to the farm home, from which the funeral was held Wednesday morning, interment being at the South cemetery. Rev. F. A. Andrews officiated.
Besides the husband there are seven surviving children. Mrs. Sherman Wilson and Miss Madge Wilson of Flint, Mrs. W. W. Forsyth of Duluth, Harry of Birch Run, Delbert and Charles of Harrisville and Merle of Duluth. There are also a brother and three sisters--Henry Stinchcombe of Harrisville, Mrs. Jennie Sims of Birch Run, Mrs. Libbie Always of Ann Arbor and Mrs. Wesley March of Sprague, Wash. All of the children excepting Mrs. Forsyth were here for the funeral. Others coming from a distance were Sherman Wilson, Frank McGuire, and Mrs. Mary Burkley of Flint, Mrs. Harry Wilson of Birch Run, Miss Florence Kellogg of Bay City and W. W. Forsyth of Duluth.
