DR. J. HENRY CARSTENS DEAD AT HIS DETROIT HOME
--------
Surgeon of International Prominence Owned Summer Home Here.
--------
Dr. J. Henry Carstens died Saturday morning at his home in Detroit, following an illness of several months. He was 72 years old.
Besides Mrs. Hattie Rohnert Carstens, the widow, three daughters and one son survive--Mrs. L. J. Hirschman, Miss Edith L. Carstens, Miss Mildred V. Carstens and Dr. Henry R. Carstens, all of Detroit.
Dr. Carstens was a man widely known to the world of medicine and surgery, being a surgeon of international prominence, a lecturer on virtually every branch of medical science and an authoritative contributor to the literature of his profession. At the time of his death he was president of the Detroit College of Medicine.
A few years ago, through the influence of Mr. Carl E. Schmidt, Dr. Carstens became the owner of the Lakeside property on the lake shore just south of Harrisville city limits, and made several visits here to see about establishing a summer home there.
