Monument to Alcona's Dead in the World War; Erected by Women's Civic League of Harrisville
--------
After considerable unexpected delay, the bronze plate for the memorial placed in Court House park by the Women's Civic League of Harrisville, has been attached to the stone. The whole is a beautiful piece of work and a fitting memorial for the Alcona County boys who made the supreme sacrifice in the World War.
The plate bears the inscription: "Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friend;" and "Erected by the Women's Civic League of Harrisville in Memory of Our Boys who sacrificed their lives in 1917-1919, the Great World War."
