Mrs. Roff Tooze Dies Following Operation
--------
The death of Mrs. Roff Tooze occurred Thursday, March 26, afternoon, following an operation for appendicitis. Her death was wholly unexpected and came about two hours after the operation.
Mrs. Tooze's maiden name was Marcelle Meneau and she was born in Blois, France, May 23, 1899. She remained in France until 1919 when on August 2 she married Roff Tooze and they arrived in America the 3rd of the month following. They lived in Barton City until 1929 when they moved to Harrisville.
Four daughters were born to them--Genevieve, 8; Jaunita Pearl, 7; Edith Leona, 5; Mildred May, 3; all of whom survive. The sorrowing husband is the only other relative living in America.
The unexpected death of Mrs. Tooze was a severe shock to the family and roused the deep sympathy of the entire community for the sorrowing husband and the motherless girls. She was of a bright and cheerful disposition and had many friends, not only where she had lived but all along the Harrisville-Mitchell star route where she assisted or relieved her husband almost daily in his duties as mail carrier.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the M. E. church in Lincoln, Rev. C. S. Brown assisting Rev. C. M. Boyce with the service. Interment in Lincoln Cemetery.
Mr. Tooze wishes to express his thanks to all who helped him in his bereavement, especially those whom he has not been able to see personally.
