Drowns in Saginaw River

A body recovered from the Saginaw River Saturday, was identified by local authorities Monday, as that of Charles McLaren, of Lincoln. Mr. McLaren had left his home in Gustin Township, on Monday, June 20th. Telling his mother that he was going a distance of about one-half mile into Lincoln.
On Saturday, Sheriff George Wilson received a call from the Saginaw police stating that they believed that a body found in the Saginaw river was that of an Alcona County man. Coroner Wm. F. Carle went to Saginaw on Monday of this week and identified the body. It was first believed to be that of a missing Alpena youth, Albrick Hendricks.
Saginaw police reported that two boys fishing along the river bank had seen a man jump into the river, Wednesday, June 22nd. This led to the recovery of the body.
Charles McLaren was born in Alcona County, August 18, 1909, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan McLaren, of Lincoln. Charles had been in ill health and partially crippled for most of his short life.
He is survived by his parents, one brother, Andrew, at home; six sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Michaud, of Mikado; Mrs. Mamie Scrah, Onaway; Mrs. Harriet Caswels, Pontiac; Mrs. Margaret Hathaway, Lake Orion; and Alice and Thelma at home.
Funeral services were here at the First Baptist church in Lincoln Tuesday, Rev. Miller officiating. Burial in Lakeside cemetery, at Lincoln.
