Passes Away, Jan. 19th

Mark Briggs passed away at the Leila Post Hospital, in Battle Creek, on Thursday, January 19th, following an operation which he underwent a week previous. Mark had been in fair health until his return from deer hunting here in November, when illness forced him to have an operation for a kidney ailment.
Mr. Briggs was born in Harrisville Township in 1883, and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Briggs, pioneer residents of Harrisville.
He is survived by his widow, (Esther Noyes) and two sons: John of Kalamazoo, and Louis of Battle Creek; three brothers and one sister, Ernest and Ray, of Battle Creek and Ralph Briggs, of Harrisville, and Mrs. Lulu Merchant of Battle Creek. Fifteen nephews and twelve nieces also survive.
Funeral services were held at Battle Creek on Sunday, January 22nd. Burial was made at Battle Creek.
Relatives from here attending the funeral were: Ralph Briggs, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Noyes, Mr. and Mrs. G. Cleve Noyes, and Mrs. Margaret Ayling. Others attending were Miss Marion Noyes, of Clare, Mich.; Abe Noyes and Daniel Noyes, of Detroit; Eugene Hubbard, of Birmingham, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hubbard of Casnovia, Mich., and Mrs. A. J. McLean, of Saginaw.
