Mrs. O. R. Frederick,
Passed Away Tuesday
--------
Mrs. O. R. Frederick, wife of Supervisor Frederick, of Mikado Township, passed away Tuesday evening following a lingering illness.
Mary E. Towner was born at Belvidere, Illinois, May 20, 1864, the child of Rev. John L. and Keziah Brownell Towner. In 1881 she moved with her brother, Horace M. Towner, to Adams County, Iowa, where she taught in the Prescott and Corning public schools until 1887. She was married on December 29, 1887, to Oliver R. Frederick, at her home, by her father. The only child of this union was John T. Frederick, born February 1, 1893.
Mrs. Frederick resided on a farm near Corning from her marriage until 1920. During this period she was constantly active as a leader in church and social service organizations. With her husband she was especially influential in helping to bring about the union of the Congregational and Presbyterian churches of Corning in the present Federated Church.
In February, 1920, she came with her husband to the residence on a farm near Glennie, Michigan, where she died on April 11, 1939. She is survived by her husband, son, son's wife, Esther P. Frederick, and two grandsons, John J. Frederick, and James O. Frederick.
In the professional and social fields in which she used her marked and varied talents, she was always one who worked for the work's sake, never for her own. She was a devoted wife and mother, always finding her greatest happiness in the pleasures and achievements of others. During her long illness she displayed extraordinary patience and courage, and unfailing consideration and thoughtfulness for those around her.
Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at two o'clock from the home, Rev. C. S.. Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Springport Cemetery.
