Dr. Curtis Noted
Astronomer Dies
--------
Walter T. Curtis received word Friday of the sudden death of his brother, Dr. Heber D. Curtis, of Ann Arbor. Mr. Curtis had often visited here at the Curtis summer home, and was known personally by a number of Harrisville people.
Dr. Curtis, aged 72, was found dead in bed, death resulting from a heart ailment of which he had suffered for some time. Quoting the Detroit Free Press, "Dr. Curtis, chairman of the University of Michigan's astronomy department and director of the observatory there, was the world's most famous eclipse hunter and had photographed 11 total ones, traveling more than 100,000 miles for favorable views of the rare solar phenomena. Only five of these were in the United States."
