Funeral Rites Held
For George Forsythe

Funeral services for George Forsythe were held at 3:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Harrisville Methodist church. Mr. Forsythe died Wednesday, November 18 at the home of his son Earl Forsythe at Mt. Morris, Mich. He had been in poor health for seven years.
George Henry Forsythe was born February 20th, 1897, in the old homestead in Dean District. He was the son of Henry and Lavina Forsythe and one of nine children, six sons and three daughters. Most of his life was spent in this county. He married Hattie B. Wilson, daughter of a pioneer family, on April 15, 1897. Mrs. Forsythe passed away January 25, 1942. Mr. Forsythe was elected Sheriff of Alcona County in 1916 and moved from his farm in Harrisville Township to the County Jail building in Harrisville in that year. He held that office until 1920, and then returned to the farm. From 1923 to 1935 the family lived in Flint, later returning to their home here. He was a life-long member of the Baptist Church and was a member of Modern Woodman Order for 30 years.
Surviving him are two daughters, three sons, two brothers and six grandchildren: Mrs. R. S. Colwell, Wyandotte, Mich.; Mrs. George Lathrop, Detroit; Lloyd Forsythe, New London, Conn.; Albert Forsythe of Minneapolis, Minn.; and Earl Forsythe of Mt. Morris, Mich.; Wm. W. Forsythe, Duluth, Minn.; and Fred Forsythe of Harrisville Township. Wm. Forsythe of Duluth and Lloyd Forsythe of Connecticut were unable to attend the funeral services.
Services were held at 8:00 o'clock Thursday evening at the Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris with Rev. Vercoe of he North Baptist Church in Flint, officiating. The remains were brought to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Forsythe Friday morning. Services at the Harrisville Methodist Church were conducted by Rev. C. S. Brown. Burial in the family plot in Springport Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Wm. G. Beever, Percy Somers, Arthur Galloway, Stanford Clemens, Joseph Specht, and Thomas Anderson.
