Killed in Action

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Burt of Harrisville Township received word Saturday that their son Victor, had been killed in action on the Island of New Guinea, in the Southwest Pacific, on New Year's Day.
Victor entered the service of the U. S. Army on December 8, 1941, the day war was declared on the Axis by the United States government.
He was born in Lincoln on January 14, 1920. His entire lie was spent in Alcona County. He enrolled in the CCC in 1937 and received an honorable discharge from this unit in 1938.
Surviving him besides the grieved parents are three sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Henry Webb (Gertrude) of Haynes; Mrs. Jos. Ellinger (Lena) of Syracuse N. Y.; and Norma, George and Gerald at home.
