Rev. Charles R. Jones, retired pastor of the Harrisville, Haynes and Spruce Presbyterian churches, passed away Sunday afternoon following a heart attack at his home in Harrisville.
Rev. Jones was born in Ipsridge, England in 1866. He came to Canada with his parents at the age of 12. He served under the North Baptist Association of the Baptist church, in Canada, before coming to the Upper Peninsula, and about three years ago, came to Harrisville. In October 1943 he was forced to retire due to ill health. His condition had not improved since that time.
He is survived by his widow.
Funeral services were held at the Harrisville Presbyterian Church at 1:30, Wed. p.m. Rev. Homer D. Mitchell, pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian Church at Bay City, officiated, assisted by Rev. Henry Kreullin, also of Bay City.
The body was taken to Houghton, Michigan following services here. Burial took place in the family plot in Houghton Cemetery.
