Thomas G. McGregor, for many years a resident of Barton City died at this home Saturday morning, March 2. He had been ill for over a year.
Mr. McGregor was born in Brussels, Ontario, on September 14, 1871. He came to Alcona County in 1892, working in the lumbering woods in this vicinity for some time. He later moved to the Pacific coast where he continued in the lumbering trade for eleven years, prior to returning to the County. His marriage to Martha V. Simons, took place in 1904. She passed away 16 years ago.
Mr. McGregor was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge and was an active member of the Baptist church.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Eliza Shulz, Barton City; five sons, Emery, Alexander, Arnold, and Hector of Barton City, and Donald of Detroit; 15 grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. John Spencer, Mrs. Clyde Beard, Mrs. Matilda Highfield and Miss Jennie McGregor, all of Detroit.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the Barton City Lutheran church with the Rev. Frank Greer officiating. Interment was made in Twin Lakes cemetery, Lincoln. Pallbearers were Steve Katona, Charles Sanborn, Leslie Sanborn, Elvie Rhyndress, Dan Richardson, and Jerome Sanborn.
