STENGEL--CROWELL
--------
The Sunnyside Methodist Church of Curran was the scene of a lovely candlelight wedding Saturday, May 22, at eight-thirty o'clock, solemnizing the marriage of Miss Alta Crowell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl T. Crowell of Windom, Minnesota, and Harold Edward Stengel, son of Mrs. Margaret Stengel of Brooklyn, New York.
Mrs. Carl O. Joy of Glennie, was the vocalist at the wedding. The selections included "Because", O Promise Me" and "O Perfect Love". She was accompanied by Mrs. Lee LaForge at the piano. Mrs. Joy and Mrs. LaForge were accompanied by Mrs. J. B. Wilcox with the guitar at the reception. They sang "Always" and "Beautiful Dreamer."
The bride wore a sheer white gown, fashioned with a sweetheart neckline, a three tiered skirt with lace insets, and leg o' mutton long sleeves. A tiara of orange blossoms secured the fingertip veil. Her bouquet contained pink and white sweetheart roses, tied with white satin bow and streamers.
The matron of honor, Mrs. J. B. Wilcox, sister of the bride, wore an aqua marquisette, full skirted gown with puffed sleeves and sweetheart neckline. She carried a colonial bouquet of pink and white carnations. The flower girl, Margaret Stengel, wore an aqua ruffled taffeta dress and carried a colonial bouquet of carnations and trillium.
The bride approached the altar which was lighted by candelabra and banked with spring flowers and ferns. She was given in marriage by her brother, Lester Crowell, of Windom, Minnesota. The double ring ceremony was read by Rev. Carl O. Joy, of Glennie.
J. B. Wilcox, brother-in-law of the bride, was best man and ushers were Lee and Byron LaForge, also of Curran.
Forty guests attended the reception at the J. B. Wilcox home following the ceremony at the church. The out-of-town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Lester Crowell and family and Miss Edna Mae Howorth of Windom; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilcox and family, Mrs. Edward Bedell and Linda, and Earl Shover of Bay City, and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Burke and family of Flint.
