John Leslie Wheeler, aged 74 years, passed away at 4:00 o'clock a. m. Friday, July 30 at his home in Harrisville Township. He had been in ill health for four years.
Mr. Wheeler was the son of the late Richard and Mary Procunier Wheeler. He was born on October 6, 1873 at Fort Burell, Canada. He came to Alcona County with his parents at the age of six and lived here almost continually since that time, with the exception of a few years residence in Onaway and Turner. His marriage to Myrtle Haley took place in Standish on December 21, 1904. She preceded him in death on May 3, 1931.
He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Surviving are one son, George Wheeler of Harrisville, a sister, Sarah Perkins of Gustin Township and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held August 2, at 2:00 p. m. from the Baptist Church in Lincoln, Rev. L. L. Lewis officiating. The body was at the Smith Funeral Home in Lincoln until the hour of services. Burial in Westlawn Cemetery, Harrisville.
Pallbearers were Arthur Galloway, Joseph Specht, John Walker, Clifford Pyne, Raymond Adair and Wm. Beever.
