JACK--BROADWOOD
In a ceremony performed at ten o'clock Wednesday morning at the Presbyterian Manse in Harrisville, Alexina Broadwood of Mikado, became the bride of Harold Jack of Haynes.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Broadwood and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ainsey Jack.
Rev. Howard Webster performed the double-ring ceremony in the presence of the immediate family members. Their only attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Keith Collins. Mrs. Collins is a sister of the bride.
For her wedding the bride chose a crinoline skirted dress made of white bow-encrested silk marquisette over satin. It was fashioned with a sweetheart neckline, fitted bodice and a very full floor length skirt. The cap sleeves were formed by soft folds which tapered to fashion a bustle effect. she wore a fingertip veil crowned by a tiara embroidered with seed pearls, and white gauntlets. Her only jewelry was a double strand of pearls, a gift of the groom, and matching pearl and rhinestone earrings. Her bridal bouquet was of pink roses and white satin bows and streamers.
Her bridesmaid's dress was made of sheer silk net over satin, in a soft green pastel. It was fashioned with a scoop neckline outlined by a shirred capelet edged in lace, which fell over tiny puffed sleeves. The shirring and lace motif was carried out with a mock peplum on the crinoline skirt. She wore a matching green tiara and green gauntlets. Her jewelry was also pearls and matching earrings. She carried a basket effect bouquet of gladioli, roses and carnations tied with multi-colored ribbon.
Mrs. Broadwood mother of the bride, wore a navy blue figured crepe with navy and white accessories. Mrs. Jack wore navy blue crepe with white accessories, and each wore a corsage of red roses and white carnations.
A wedding dinner was served at Rustic Pine Ridge Inn in Alpena, at one o'clock. Thirty-five members of the immediate families were seated at the prettily decorated table which was centered with a wedding cake topped by a miniature bride and groom figurine. Out of town guests were present from Chicago and Detroit.
In the evening a large crowd attended a wedding dance which was held at the Mikado Community Hall with music by Rhythm Aires Orchestra from Alpena. Ice cream and cake were served.
The popular young couple left for a weeks trip touring northern Michigan, through Canada to Niagara Falls. They plan to make their home temporarily in an upstairs apartment of the Broadwood home in Mikado.
The groom is a graduate of Harrisville High School and the Alpena County Normal, and attended C. M. C. E. at Mt. Pleasant. He is a veteran of World War II and is now employed at Nieman's Hardware in Lincoln. Mrs. Jack graduated from Oscoda High School and attended Alpena County Normal and Mt. Pleasant College at the same time as the groom. She is employed in the office of the Alcona County Road Commission, in Lincoln.
