The body of Pfc. Richard George McGuire will arrive here Tuesday, July 12 from Italy for re-burial in the Mikado Cemetery. He was killed in action on April 29, 1945 in Italy.
Richard was born on July 11, 1920 in Alpena County, the son of James A. and the late Alice McGuire. He lived in Alpena and Alcona Counties from birth to his marriage, attending the Wilson and Harmon Schools in this county. He was a member of the Latter Day Saints Church in Mikado. Me married Lorraine King in Mikado on September 3, 1940.
McGuire entered the service in June 1944. He served with Co. B., 86th Mountain Infantry Regiment.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lorraine McGuire Wisser, on son, Richard Kelly McGuire of Mikado, his father, James A. McGuire of Mikado; brothers and sisters: Marshall, Delmar, Angus and Jim McGuire of Mikado, Mrs. Leonard Petterson, Mrs. Clayton Harmon, Mrs. George Harmon, Charles Harmon and Mrs. Clifford DeForrest of Mikado.
The body will be taken to the Smith Funeral Home in Lincoln where short services will be held Wednesday, July 13 at 2:00 p. m., Elder B. H. Doty of Gladwin officiating. Military services will be held by the American Legion and V. F. W. Posts of the County.
