RITES UNITE COUPLE WITH
DOUBLE RING CEREMONY
--------
Glennie--Miss Leora L. Ford became the bride of DeForest Karpp Jr. in a candlelight ceremony, performed at Glennie Methodist Church by the Rev. Geo. Barlew and Rev. C. S. brown, at 8 o'clock Monday evening. Double rings were used by the bridal pair, before an altar banked with white gladioli and white lighted candles.
Entering the church on the arm of her father who gave her in marriage, the bride was lovely in a wedding gown of white satin, fashioned with a high round neckline, bertha collar, yoke and edging of collar were of net matching the finger tip veil which was held in place by shirred satin matching the dress, and pearls. The full length princess line skirt terminated in a circular train, sleeves were long, fitted, ending in a point over her hand, and trimmed in seed pearls. Her only accessories were her mother's single strand of pearls and matching ear rings. She carried a white prayer book adorned with white orchids and baby's breath plus white satin streamers.
Miss Marcene Rickle of Glennie was maid of honor. Her gown was a pastel blue taffeta, form fitting bodice and long full skirt. She carried a colonial bouquet of peach colored rose buds and carnations, trimmed with white lace and backed in a deep peach satin background.
The groom's attendant was Frederick Busch of Glennie.
The guests were seated by usher Wilbur Garrett.
For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Ford chose an ensemble of black rustling faille skirt with a pink satin brocade top, with white accessories. Mrs. Karpp wore navy with grey accessories. Their flowers were white carnations with white net and ribbons.
Mrs. Helen Smith presided at the piano and a vocal solo "Because" was sung by Miss Mary Wallace.
After greeting their many friends and guests at the door of the church a reception was held at the Glennie Community building where a host of friends and neighbors met them with many lovely gifts.
A three-tiered wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom was served, along with individual decorated cup cakes, ice cream and kool-aid.
After a very pleasant evening the bride and groom left for a short trip to return later in the week to his work in his garage in Glennie.
For going away the bride wore a brown gabardine suit with a corsage of roses, and white accessories. Leora fashioned both her gown and her suit.
Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. DeForest Karpp and daughter, Kimmie Kay, Mrs. Jack Kirkwood and daughter, Linda, from North Canton, Ohio, Mrs. Lindy Adams from New Orleans, Louisiana, Flora Ford, R. L. Fralick, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Smith from Oscoda and Rev. and Mrs. C. S. Brown of Owosso.
