Death of Samuel Sloan; burial in Mikado.

James A. Sloan, aged 88 years, of Mikado Township died at 1:30 a. m. Monday, August 15, at a convalescent home in Bay City where he had been living for the past 1 1/2 years. He had been in ill health for five years.
Mr. Sloan was born on August 20, 1860 in Van Kleeck Hill, Ontario, Canada. His parents were the late Moses and Jane Sloan. He was married to Christina McQuade in Oscoda and they made their home there where he worked as foreman on the boom at Loud Dam for many years. They later moved to a farm in Mikado Township.
He was a member of the Latter Day Saints Church, Mikado, from where the funeral services were held at 2:00 p. m., August 17. Elder Richard Stewart officiated. burial took place in Mikado cemetery.
He is survived by two brothers, M. R. Sloan of Lincoln and John Sloan of Bay City. A brother, Sam, died in Duluth, Minn., two weeks ago.
