Francis J. Cole, brother of H. I. Cole of Harrisville, died at the I. O. O. F. Home in Jackson, Sunday. He was 96 years of age and the oldest resident at the home.
Mr. Cole was well known here as "Frank" Cole, and visited his brother many times. He was born in 1853 in Birmingham, Michigan and came to Alpena with his parents in 1858. He married Rachel McGuffin in 1877 in London, Ontario. Mrs. Cole died in 1935. They lived in Port Huron and in Alpena.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows for 56 years. He has lived at the Odd Fellows Home for about 12 years.
Surviving are two sons, Hugh of Wyandotte, and John of LaJunta, California; two brothers, Herbert I. Cole of Harrisville and Mason Cole of Detroit, and one sister, Mrs. Arthur Greenick of California.
The body will be brought to the First Congregational Church in Alpena today, where funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. this afternoon. Rev. Robert M. Berksdale will officiate, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Alpena.
