HAVERCROFT--RIOPELLE
--------
An altar arrangement of huge baskets of white gladioli and lighted candelabra was the setting for the marriage ceremony of Chloe Anne Riopelle and Norman E. Havercroft of Greenbush Saturday evening at the Harrisville Methodist Church. The candlelight, double-ring ceremony was performed at seven o'clock by Reverend Horace James, pastor of the church.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chelsea A. Riopelle and the groom the son of Mr. and Mrs. Blanchard E. Havercroft.
Betty Miller of Ferndale was maid of honor. She wore a gown of yellow taffeta and carried a tea rose bouquet. Betty Jo Watts, also of Ferndale, was bridesmaid and wore peach taffeta. Her bouquet was of yellow roses.
Donald Havercroft, brother of the groom was best man. Ushers were Stanley Sterling and Robert Nitz. They wore white formal jackets and black trousers.
Mrs. Riopelle chose a teal blue and black floral street length dress with matching hat, for her daughter's wedding. Her corsage was of coral gardenias. Mrs. Havercroft wore a grey and white print, with matching hat, and a corsage of gardenias.
Soloist was Russell Sterling, who sang "Because". Mrs. E. Holmes presided at the piano.
Immediately following the service a reception and dance were held at the Greenbush Inn Golf Club. A buffet supper was served to over two hundred guests. Rosebud arrangements flanked by lighted candles decorated the damask covered table. On a separate table was a beautiful and most unusual three-tier wedding cake, with a lighted wedding bell and miniature figurines of a bride and groom on the top tier. Each layer was on a glass plate supported from the lower layer by glass tubes. It was a work of art done all in white, and made especially for the bridegroom by Douville Bakery of Alpena.
The popular young couple received many lovely gifts from a host of friends.
For her going away outfit the bride wore a brown suit with white accessories. Following a wedding trip through northern Michigan the happy couple will make their home in their house trailer in Greenbush and later in East Lansing where the groom is a student at Michigan State College. The bride has been employed at the Northern Sportwear in Harrisville for some time.
Among out of town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jennings and Mrs. Flossie Fraser f Flint; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cenzer and Mr. and Mrs. Melbin Goolsby, of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. George Kilpatrick, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sponenburgh, Mrs. Gem Hipple, and Mrs. H. Hinson and Sharon, all of Royal Oak; and Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Purdie, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fenske, Mr. and Mrs. J. Purdie, Mr. and Mrs. B. Frech and Mr. and Mrs. H. Comer, all of Roseville, Michigan.
On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Blanchard E. Havercroft, parents of the bridegroom, entertained the family and many out of town guests at an open house buffet luncheon. The beautifully appointed buffet table was covered with an ivory satin cloth, with a centerpiece of peach colored gladioli.
