On Saturday, August 13th, at 1:00 p. m. Miss Sophia Unkovich of Detroit became the bride of Elburn Millard of West Branch, Michigan.
The ceremony was performed by Father Mijatovich at the Serbian Orthodox Church in Detroit. The bride was given away by her brother, Nicholas Unkovich.
Miss Unkovich was beautiful in a white satin wedding gown, which was fashioned with a round neckline and yoke of illusion, tight fitting bodice trimmed with seed pearls, long fitted sleeves, and a hoop skirt featuring a long train. Her fingertip veil of illusion was attached to a headpiece of pearlized orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white rosebuds with long flowing streamers.
The bride's only attendant was her sister, Miss Violet Unkovich. She wore an ice blue taffeta gown with a matching picture hat, and she carried a bouquet of pink rosebuds with long blue satin streamers.
The best man was Mr. Steve Mitrovich of Chicago, Illinois.
Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. John Mamula and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Wayne of Clairton, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Ilija Taraila, Mrs. Yovica Yelich, Mrs. Milan Taraila, Yvonne Taraila and Nebby Taraila of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Millard, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Millard, Mr. Robert Millard and fiancee, Mrs. Louie Borkovich, Walter Borkovich and Mary Borkovich of Flint; Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Millard and Jef Millard of Mason, Michigan; Mr. and Mrs. Don Bedard of Wayne, Mr. Harry Buck and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Bartlett of West Branch; Mrs. Mike Unkovich, Johnny and Anna Unkovich of Glennie; Mr. and Mrs. Al Manley of Midland; Miss Evelyn Smith of Coloma, Michigan; Mr. Dragi Tarailo, Bessie Taraila, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Chuck and children, Mr. Vule Vuletich, and Mr. Steve Borkovich of Windsor, Canada.
In the evening a buffet supper was served to eighty guests at the bride's sister's home on Avery Street.
The newlyweds left for a two weeks honeymoon through Northern Michigan. Upon their return they will make their home in West Branch where the bride will teach school.
