LAWRENCE WILLIAM DELLAR
--------
Lawrence William, eleven-day-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dellar of Harrisville, lost a valiant battle for life, at the University Hospital in Ann Arbor Wednesday afternoon, October 19.
Baby Dellar was born on October 8th at the Hilliard Nursing Home in Harrisville. His start in life was handicapped by the lack of an opening to the stomach, and he could receive no nourishment through natural channels. He was placed in the community incubator purchased by the local Lions Club, some time ago, and he received oxygen constantly for eight days. Feeding was done intravenously. He was taken to the University Hospital this week, going to Mercy Hospital, Bay City, Monday and receiving care there through the night, and continuing on to Ann Arbor Tuesday. On Tuesday night the infant underwent 6 1/2 hours of surgery and the report came back that he had survived the ordeal satisfactorily.; Late Wednesday word was received that the baby had died.
Needless to say the parents are very grateful to the Lions Club, that their incubator was available in time of such great need.
Surviving the infant are the parents, Howard and Iva Dellar, a brother, Howard Jr., 2, and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. R. Dellar of Harrisville, and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Healy of Glennie. Burial will take place this (Thursday) afternoon at 1:30, in Springport Cemetery.
