Mrs. Joshua Gibson, of Millen Township, aged 94 years, died at 11:00 p. m. Saturday at the Alpena General Hospital where she had been a patient for five days. She had fallen and received a fractured hip for which she was hospitalized. Death resulted from heart failure and pneumonia.
Melinda Amanda Hess was born on November 12, 1855 in Tuscola County, the daughter of Wesley and Laura Hess. She married Joshua Gibson at Harrisville on September 21, 1907. She lived in Arenac County until 1890 and had been a resident of Alcona County since 1905. Mr. Gibson died on November 23, 1938.
She was a faithful member of the Curran Baptist Church and of the W. C. T. U.
Surviving are three children, one son, Lawrence Wesley Burger of Barton City; and two daughters, Lulu Mae Mason of Pierre, South Dakota, and Rose B. Arno of Curran.
Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at two o'clock at the Curran Baptist Church. The body remained at the Smith Funeral Home in Lincoln until noon and lay in state at the Curran Church until the hour of service. Rev. Naamen Stemen, pastor of the Church, will officiate.
Grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
